The Second Eclectic

Technology changes how we relate to God and each other

A man cannot lead others where he has not been himself.

I have heard this said often, and I see the truth and realism in it. But I wonder, is it always true? For myself, I recognize that I am hardly any further than those I lead. Indeed, in many ways I know that I am learning with them. Am I the guide on this journey? I don’t see myself that way. Instead, I feel more like a fellow traveler, discovering with others more than discovering before them.

What do you think? Is this statement always, sometimes, never true? Is it based on a structure of leadership that requires it? Is that structure still sound?
