Technology changes how we relate to God and each other

1 Cor 1-2

Paul said that God used the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, the weak things to shame the strong. Yet, I see a part of the church in the world seeking positions of influence in order to gain a hearing and spread their message. There are many types of power, but I think influence is one. Power is strength, in my mind, and seemingly the very thing Paul tells us God ignores. Is the quest for influence wrong then? What does a weak and foolish church look like? Is it simply foolish by a worldly standard and strong by its own standard? Maybe influence itself isn’t the problem but rather how it’s pursued (stepping on people to get it) and how it’s used (to get others to do one’s own bidding)? How are we to understand Paul’s “weakness” against the church’s quest for influence over culture?
